About Our School

Wonderland Preschool was established in May 1984 to fill a need in the community. It is owned and operated by Anna Gibbs and Lynda Putnam. We are located downstairs at the First Congregational Church of Pembroke, UCC, 301 Pembroke Street, Pembroke, NH. Our main objective is to help young children feel comfortable with their developing skills and social behavior. A learning atmosphere is created through our curriculum of games, exercises, toys, music, movement and simple handicrafts; held together with a whole lot of love. These activities are designed to help these little ones gain confidence and take pride in a variety of learning experiences.

Our school year begins on the Tuesday (or Wednesday) after Labor Day and runs through the last day of class before Memorial Day vacation. We follow the Pembroke school calendar for days in session. Your safety is of the utmost importance, so when the Pembroke schools cancel or have a 2-hour delay due to weather, OUR SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED! Please listen to the radio and television for details on school closings in the event of a bad storm. Included in this booklet is a copy of the Pembroke School Calendar, keep it handy for easy reference.

“Parent Nights” are occasionally offered as evening sessions during the year for parents and include information on child development, parenting skills and more. These parent sessions will help you build a network of friends for you and your child.

At Wonderland, we have several occasions during the year when parents are included in their child’s preschool experience. There are excursions, such as nature walks, “Summer Fun Days”, and other activities where you will be invited to join in our adventures. We also plan two productions which are held for you and your child’s pleasure, one will be the day before Christmas vacation and the other will be the last day of class before Summer vacation (just before Memorial Day in the end of May). The Christmas show and the end of the year graduation festivities will begin at 10:30 am, so plan ahead so that you may attend these very special gatherings!
